Promotional Products
Promotional products are merchandise items that often have an advertising or sales promotion message on them. They are typically useful for symbolic products, which are used in advertising and promotion as communication vehicles, goodwill reminders, signs, gifts and incentives.
What types of products are included? Promotional products include advertising specialties, premiums, recognition awards, business gifts and other identification applications.
Advertising Specialties have these elements: (1) an advertising or promotional message, (2) placed on, or with, a useful item and (3) given with no strings attached.
Premiums are useful items given with some requirement attached (e.g.,take a test-drive and get a free t-shirt). A premium is given as an incentive to do or buy something. Often premiums are imprinted and sometimes they are not. What makes an item a premium is its incentive
Recognition Awards are plaques, service pins, trophies, award jewelry and other gifts that signify performance or honors. When these awards are used as incentives, such as in a safety campaign or a sales contest, they are also premiums.
Business Gifts. Nearly half of corporate America gives business gifts. They are most commonly given by businesses to customers and employees. Gift giving reasons cited by companies are: to thank customers (83%), to develop business (56%), to recognize employee performance and longevity (25%), customers expect (10%) and other (3%). Approximately sixty percent of business gifts are purchased through promotional product distributors, with retail and wholesale outlets accounting for twenty nine percent and other places eleven percent
Other Identification Applications.
This catch-all category includes products used to symbolize organization memberships, such as embroidered patches, plaques, jackets and caps. It also includes purchasable key tags, wearables and glassware from tourist attractions and promotional inflatables and balloons that serve as attention-getters at promotional events. These product categories are all promotional in nature, but don't fit neatly into other categories.
